It's definitely not like petting...Hi Elizabeth! It's definitely not like petting puppies, lol. I just happen to think the pain isn't all that unbearable. I liken it to a constant bee sting. Also, after a while the skin does numb up a little from the constant "assault" if you will. Then the endorphins kick in to deal with the pain so all in all it's not bad. Placement also makes a big difference. My ankle one was probably the most painful and even at that it wasn't anything I wouldn't do again.
